"Big Green is a 501c3 Non-Profit that helps connect the next generation to real food through a nationwide network of Learning Gardens and food literacy programs.  Our Learning Gardens are dynamic outdoor classrooms that enable students to learn, play, and grow in a healthy environment.  We recognize that each school and community is unique, which is why we’ve made our gardens customizable.  They are designed especially for each school by our team of landscape architects, transforming urban schoolyards into vibrant green spaces bursting with life.

When paired with ample teacher training and curated curriculum resources, Learning Gardens are powerful education tools.  Students learn to become responsible caretakers of a living thing, have a chance to engage in food production, learn about the food system and their role in it, and develop a deeper understanding of healthy choices.  Learning Gardens improve academic engagement and achievement, increase kid’s knowledge and likeability of fresh fruits and vegetables, and strengthen the relationship between school and their surrounding communities.

To date, Big Green has built 500 Learning Gardens in seven regions including 68 in Colorado.  Each school day, over 30,000 Colorado students walk through the doors of a Learning Garden school.  Big Green has big goals for Colorado through our “Keepin’ it 100” campaign.  This campaign aims to build 100 Learning Gardens in the Front Range by 2020, providing access to real food for a generation of Coloradans.

Big Green is partnering with SOULRISE TRIBE in Colorado to help reach more kids!  Thank you to SOULRISE TRIBE for being an important contributor to Big Green's mission of helping our underserved youth.  Learn more at www.BigGreen.org❤"
